Old New Turkey

Enthusiasitc welcome for Ahmet Davutoğlu as he reenters his home town of Konya. He had been forced out of office by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan because of disagreements about Turkey's future political system. Sources inside the Turkish government told "The Turkish Republic" that Davutoğlu had repeatedly spoken out against Erdoğans plans to introduce an "executive presidnetship". Davutoğlu is the last of many senior AK-Parti officials who have left office after disagreements with the increasingly authorit**** (watch out for potential offenses!^^)President. In recent weeks there have been voices that especially forme President Gül seeks to launch anew conseervative movement that wouldcomprise the moderate and pro-European wing of AKP and counter President Erdoğan. Ahmet Davutoğlu could join this movement in the future, although for the moment he seems to be still loyal to Erdoğan.
